30 July 2007. Well, it's been harder than I thought. Too many other things getting in the way of blogging and reading blogs. Luckily I finished one of the things Saturday night. No, not the bathroom, the last Harry Potter book, and an excellent book it was.
The bathroom is coming along, I finished laying the tile last night. My fingertips were sore from using the tile nippers to custom fit some of the tile. Ouch. Once I get the grout done it's just a matter of putting in the new vanity, shower door and hooking everything back up. Mrs. Dub then wants to give our bathroom a splash of color by repainting. She says that'll hold her for a bit. I might get to start working on the fence right after that and then maybe start mapping out the kitchen renovation.
What's happened at work this week.
Today's lesson is this: Always make sure the screen door is latched when there's a pit bull on the other side of it.
Lesson 2: If you watched Chris Rock's video about "How not to get beat by the Police", it's not just for entertainment, it's also valuable information. No, I didn't beat anybody, but the lesson's are still there. Never, have the cops come when you have an angry woman on your hands. The words, "He's got weed!" were used several times during our 30 minutes with this couple. Nobody was arrested today, but it would be wish if this young man moved in the middle of the night, like tonight, otherwise......
I've managed to avoid turtles this week. I also have not understood why cops "hide" behind objects when they want to run "radar" and catch speeders. Now, first, let me say that Oklahoma City does not have a quota set for officers to write a certain number of tickets....I can write as many as I want. I like to park in wide open parking lots that adjoins the street. I like to be visible by several blocks from either direction. That way, when I still catch you doing 41 mph in a 25 mph zone and you're only one block away from me, well, you have nobody to blame but yourself.
Yesterday, around 4 p.m. we had an alarm going off on a residential house. Officers, including me, responded. We found a trash can laid over against the back of the house and a broken window over the kitchen sink. Another officer and myself climb through the window. The younger, more fit officer made it look pretty smooth. Then it was my turn. I make it through the window and am now kinda stuck with my knees in the sink. I have to roll around a bit to unwedge myself. Yeah, glad it wasn't important or anything.
Well, better go for now, be safe and have a great day.

Climbed through the window and kneeled in the sink, eh? Sounds like a pretty smooth move! Sounds like a move some of my cop friends here would make!

Just take it easy and stay safe!

Gotta tell ya Dub, I'm pleased for you that you've got so much keeping you busy at home. You know why?

Because you're at home.

Take care and be safe.

You always seem to be able to make me smile. Stay safe, and keep the stories coming.

Quick speeding ticket story...

My sister got pulled over, and every since childhood had this uncanny knack for manufacturing tears instantaneously. The Nevada Highway Patrolman looked at her, after listening to sob story that was about half true, and said, "Press hard, five copies". Now when she says something really dumb to me, or wants sympathy over something really dumb that is usually self-inflicted, I look at her and repeat those words. She hates it!

Well, just be glad you didn't have a camera crew from COPS trailing you around.
I can't imagine how tiresome it must get with the sparring couples. Egads!
I'm glad your "Honey-Do" list is moving right along - for your sake.
~~~Blessings~~~
Good to hear from Dub. i thought maybe you was on vacation or something. So, did you make it to the hall of fame in OK city. how was it. Did you see the john Wayne or did you go the day they had the big inveiling. Never mind I'll just call you cause i am hoping to go soon myself. be careful out there.
so what is your criteria for busting a speeder? 10mph over? 20mph over?
personally I think the police would serve the public better if they busted more people doing more dangerous things than speeding: weaving in and out of lanes, tailgating, no signal when turning.
Glad you're staying away from angry turtles...
Sounding busy! I have to admit, I always wonder if policemen laugh when they see cars hit the brakes and everyone's neck in the car pushes them forward (and the driver has the "I've always been going this speed" look).
Hey now, don't blame me for your lack of blogging time. You've got 24 hours in a day, and you're the one that chooses to sleep! You're doing an awesome job on the bathroom, and it's "almost" done -- you're not actually to 95% yet, but close and then you can stop (he he). I think you failed to mention to me that you got stuck in the window -- I'm sure it was that bullet-proof vest that was hampering your entry (it adds 20 lbs). Don't worry about our bathroom project - I've got that one covered. You can begin digging fence holes anytime you're ready, and we can talk about that saw you think you need. I did like the teaser about the kitchen remodel (he he). I think that one will have to wait until you get your B*A*R*N!
Dude, I would have torn something loose in the bad place trying that. Kudos for you going through the window. All those days working out paid off! Haha!
Glad you enjoyed the Harry Potter book. I did too - well worth the wait.
Glad you're avoiding the turtles, but you gotta watch out for those killer sinks, now...
Be careful doing that window thing Dub.... getting stuck in a sink could cause a huge amount of laughing at the station house...
Stay safe
...had to be one of the slowski's just wanting some 'me time'...those snappers are really dangerous when they get about three feet in circumference...they rise up on their toes and hiss and then snap...crunch...what ever you had you just lost it to the turtle...they're not known for giving things back after they get a hold on it...
good thing they don't hold you back with that 'quota stuff'...
got ruffed-up once on what the officer called a rolling stop...completely untrue, SGT...it was a trap...but as luck would have it because he scared me coming out from behind the bushes in his patrol car to pull me over...my hand slipped on the steering wheel and as he was telling me what he was going to write me up for...in front of a witness...I looked down and to my dismay exclaimed...
"oh no! I broke my finger nail!"
...he looked at me and realized maybe this wasn't the right time to give me a ticket on a such an 'ify' charge, he realized I was stressed out and I had a witness...
so he apologized for stopping me and told me I could go on my way...
really lucky...except for my broken nail...rock solid
see ya...thanx
ps: people are starting to log on my map from all around the world...
ps: on that ticket stop..it was in Los Angeles, CA many moons ago, when they had a quota...never got a ticket in New Mexico...just an unwanted visitor in the middle of the night with a flashlight looking through my front door...
my poochie dog alerted me...I called the PD and told them the next time I'll shoot cause I'm in fear of my life (too many rapes and home burglaries goin' around and I'd fight back) and the Officer agreed with me...needless to say no more unwanted visitors have come back...guess the word gets around...the PD saw the paperwork reflecting a perfect score on the State shooting range qualification and know I'm trained and certified with my handy PR24...sheezh..I only weigh 124 LBS and that's with my boots on...
