01 March 2007, Did everybody take down February, it's over now. One more month of the tour of Afghanistan. Things went pretty good today. I'm feeling better with the cough still hanging around. I fear I will still have most of the cough for several more months, the air here isn't the best in the world. However, speaking of the air, it was a clear crisp air today and the mountains surrounding Kabul were breath-taking with the blue sky in the background. I will try to have pictures tomorrow to put up.
Work is going pretty good, my new Air Force personnel are doing a good job and with another month will be pretty sharp on things. They will be here for a little more after we leave this spring so it will make the transition much smoother. Mrs. Dub seems to be getting a little more excited at the prospect of getting closer for me to come home. I'm ready too. What do I have planned for home when I get back? Well, first we are wanting to take a trip, not sure where yet, but we would like to see some of the United States as a family. After that, I have a lot of work to do around the house and land. My goal is to take a welding class pretty quick and I've got 1000 feet of pipe and cable fence to install. I need to build a barn. Mrs. Dub is walking through the house looking at the changes she would like to make, the usual, new kitchen, living room, remodel the bathrooms, my office. Basically a new house inside and out, so I sent her to buy a lottery ticket, cross your fingers. I absolutely love the 5 acres we are sitting on, my neighbors are great folks and our view each morning and evening there is beautiful. You have your basic issues with anyplace you stay in but I'm pretty happy with it. I could use a few more acres, nothing large, just 1,000 acres or so. (this justifies the need for that really nice tractor I saw at the State Fair on leave last September)
For now, I settle on building small projects here and helping some others with projects of their own. I'm looking forward to finishing out the conference room with the electronics we got. I still need to build a couple of cabinets and maybe a small desk for the computer operator.
Well, my supper is ready. Be safe and have a great day.

Who here remembers what they were doing this time last year? SgtDub, MissDub and I were saying our goodbyes. Yes, it's been 1 year today since SgtDub deployed and we're all ready for this to end. We were talking yesterday about getting our lives back to "normal" and then we said "what's normal?"

Ron: the goal is to be home before July 4th.

Mrs Dub: I don't think anyone uses the word normal and me in the same sentence.

Five acres - boy, you'd better get home quick and take care of your "honey, do" list!

Glad to hear the end is in sight. Take care, and stay safe!

On the bright side, the time is flying by very quickly - at least it seems to be for me - and before you know it you'll be back in Oklahoma doing the things you love best with the people you love most.

Know oh so well about those "fix up" projects... we are doing that right now.. almost finished "flipping" my kitchen... but since Tony is sick, I'm having to do alot by myself. But once he's better, he will have to hit that "honey do" list again.

Stay safe...

Good to know you may be stateside soon. As for remodeling, I am doing the same at my house, my hubby hates it when I get in these moods/modes, lol. Take care Sgt.
