10 March 2007. Well, I hear that some of you already know who the second guest was that visited us yesterday. Governor Brad Henry of Oklahoma stopped by Camp Phoenix and our camp in Pol-e-Charki after visiting more Oklahoma troops in Iraq. He was very well received by the troops and came bearing gifts. If you have checked my sidebar at all, down at the bottom is the countdown to our Oklahoma Centennial Celebration. Yes, Oklahoma is finally going to be 100 years old as a state. Governor Henry had breakfast, gave some open remarks, answered and asked questions and then took the opportunity to shake each person's hand. Governor Henry also handed each Oklahoma Soldier an official Oklahoma Centennial coin. He presented LTC Y an Oklahoma flag for the 1-180th Infantry Battalion and then presented me, yes me, an official Oklahoma Centennial flag. After that Governor Henry attended an awards and promotion ceremony congratulating soldiers for receiving their Combat Infantry Badge or Combat Action Badge.

In other news, the Bl-Oscars were held over at Sanni's place this last Thursday. Another beautiful day for the Sarge as I took home, unexpectedly, the Bl-Oscar for Best Diary, Best Male Category. This was exciting and I want to thank Sanni for her fair and partial voting system (Sanni, if you can send me that Pay Pal account info again, I'll get the money wired)
Be safe and have a great day.

What a great day, I have a lot of respect for your governor for his visit to the troops. I do not know him or his views but you have to respect the man.

I have my oscar on my sidebar. Add a few buck to that paypal for me.

Stay safe my friend.

I'm with Sarge Charlie - how incredible that a governor would visit the troops from his state. Great photo of you, Dub, and wonderful news about the centennial coin.

Well deserved Bl-Oscar, too!

I think it's marvelous that your governor took the time to come over and visit the troops from his State as well as bring some very nice gifts, too! That says a lot about the man and his character. And you look quite pleased to have received that flag!

Sanni did a very nice thing for some very deserving people!!! Congrats!
And good for your governor. That was neat! I don't know if Ahnold has been over there or not...shows how much attention I pay to state politics. For shame...but it's too depressing!
I'm so glad you'll be HOME in time for the celebration of statehood!
