30 March 2007. Today we had a group of us go to the range and did some familiarization training on different weapons. Now, this has practical purposes and can be classified as training, but it was also fun.
I shot my M4

I shot an M4 that was fully automatic.

I shot a Heckler and Koch MP5.

I shot a Russian PKM machine gun.

I shot the American M249 machine gun.

And a few other weapons they had out there.

We managed to have a safe day, and a fun day. I will see about getting actual pictures some time in the future. Of course, besides the M4s, my favorite was the MP5. It is a sub-machine gun in 9mm, used by special forces, tactical police teams, security details with various government officials. I have shot one of these before back in OKC at the Police range. Mrs. Dub was there that day. She noticed my drooling and made the statement, "I suppose you want one of those now?" I told her I had always wanted one of those, at least for the last 6 years when I was able to see them up close at Ft. McClellan, Alabama when I went through Military Police training. It is an elegant piece. Mrs. Dub actually asked me how much they cost. This really threw me off track, but I told her around $3000. This of course, ended the conversation at that moment with her saying, " keep wishing then".

Now for everyone else, here's another picture for you. My shoes.

We returned to base after the training and I was able to check on my female interpreters to see how yesterday's mission went. They said they had a lot of people staring at them, but nobody said a word to them about how they were dressed. They were dressed in their more traditional clothing today. It decided to rain this afternoon, so I'm listening to it on my semi-tin roof, nice.
Be safe and have a great day.

Great pics of the trip and of the weapons. One thing I enjoyed about being a Combat Engineer is we blew things up. After demo week, we would have quite the good time. It's amazing what a little det cord will do. Stay Safe

Nothing like going fast and throwing ammo! I met my husband when I was 16 and the only reason he kept me around was that I had a dirt bike and more ammo than he did; oh and of course my good looks...

Thanks for sharing, looks like you had a wonderful time! Have a great day and you be safe too...

The ONLY way you're getting one of those guns is IF I get the zero-turning radius lawn tractor!!!! I'll buy your toy, if you buy mine!!!!

I saw a "future weapons" show on the Israeli Tavor assault riffle. Man that gun looked like fun.

So these interpreters are Afgani women, and they wearing short sleeves? Why would they do something like that?

We love the photos but I'm not sure shooting all those guns is my idea of "fun"....Be safe.

mimi, guns are as safe as the people firing them. The military has very strict rules about the firing line. On top of that Sarge here is a professional police office, they are trained to be safe. And shooting is fun as long as nobody is shooting back at you.

dub, I would get her the tractor the day you got home.

I like the MP5 also. I got to shoot the MP5-SD2 and the MP5K. I nver got to shoot the m249 or M2. I was an ace with the M60 and M203. My favorite foreign weapon though is the Steyr AUG. It is comfortable and light.

I went target shooting once with one of the cops I used to work with out Stockton PD in California and I absolutely loved it so I can only imagine how much you had with all of that weaponry!

As for the shoes - looks like Mrs. Dub needs to head to her "secret shoe stash" and get something new for you when you get home!

2 grey pairs out of 3. So grey is your favourite colour?

Now that's a man's shoe closet.

Functional, recreational, and for just walking outside to grab the newspaper.

What more does a fella need?

I love target shooting!!! I think a lot of women are programmed to think guns are "bad." PRESENT COMPANY EXCLUDED. Just like they think they have to scream if they see a mouse or spider. It's all a part of so-called feminine expectations. And no, I'm not butch. I just think guy stuff can be fun!
