22 April 2007, another week under the belt. We are almost finished with April, I'm so glad the time is moving fast. Today was Sunday, not much happened in the office. This afternoon we went to Camp Souter to meet with our British counterparts, and of course, eat dinner. I had the steak and mushroom pie, potatoes, gravy, green beans and carrots. I haven't had anything off of our main line in the DFAC in a very long time, but the British put on a very nice spread. During our first deployment in 2003-2004, we managed to make our way over to the Canadian camp once a week, and of course, planned those meetings around meal time. It's fasicinating because, they all come to Camp Phoenix to eat. I guess it's just something different.
The winds picked up this afternoon and for a brief period we had a decent dust storm that brought visibility down to just to a matter of feet.
Mrs. Dub told me she let the dogs and the goats into the same fenced in area yesterday, we have Carin Terriers, and both dogs got head butted. This is funny and it's a shame she didn't get it on video.
My biggest chore in the next few days will be getting to the post office on camp. Does anyone want to stand in line for me? If you think the line is long and takes forever back home, try standing in one where you have to have everything inspected before you box it up. Well, that' s all I have on this end. Be safe and have a great day.

Sorry I didn't get to read your post from yesterday until today. You see, I've been kinda busy with CHORES around the house (i.e., feed store, hardware store, grocery store, yardwork, cleaning garage and helping Papa install doggie door). Just a typical weekend. I'm not complaining (much), just trying to keep the home fires burning while you're away. Speaking of home fires . . . I tried to salvage as much of your stuff as I could, but I'm sure you can get the gasoline smell out of your clothes. Or maybe you can just pour a glass of "cold water" on it. You may want to pour one over yourself! Yes, the goats v. dogs was pretty funny, and next time I will have the camcorder ready. The dogs ran up and tried to be vicious little terriers, but were quickly rammed and butted and then ran to hide behind me. I don't think they'll be messing with them again soon. You must have the same wind as us - it's definetly "sweeping down the plains" today. I hope they teach you how to cope with an angry wife, because you currently have one!
oops... tip-toeing out the back door, don't want in on this one!
smiles, bee
That dinner sounds YUMMY! And the poor dogs!
Yea I am glad you are out of reach. I am getting excited for you. I know the last days are the longest but the day is coming. That is about the time we have to wait on our new truck. Not much of a comparision but it is all i got. Keep Ducking!
psssst, dub, you listing, shut up.
NOW FOR THE FINAL WORD, STAY BEHIND THE DAMN WIRE............
Watching Papa doing the doggie door could have used a video cam also. He is doing better. I have noticed he is more careful with projects for Mrs Dub, than for me. Wonder why? Could it be she is more critical. I am counting down for you. Love MOM
Cairn terriers? Toto! Toto! (Sorry - couldn't resist that stupid remark.)
Ahem, now back to our regularly scheduled comment...
I don't do post office lines. I use the automated machine in the lobby now, and even when there's a small line there, I can get frustrated. I'm not a patient "waiter."
I talked to my daughter-in-law last night. They have been out in the field this past week for mre training. She says they now expect to deploy back to Iraq around the same time you should be headed back to the states. She said probabaly the 2nd week of July. (or so the rumors say)
Gald my fellow brits fed you well :-)
Well, since the Crohn´s flare up I´m sorry to tell ya I can´t stand in the line for you =)
Be safe and have a good day!
That meals sounds delish...and laughing at your poor lil dogs...
Peace
Just stopping by and checking in on your SGT DUB. Hope you have a good day and sleep good tonight. Although I really have no idea of your time zone. How many hours are you ahead of home. Is Oklahoma Central-mountain time. I am pacific so I think that puts Oklahoma 2 hours ahead of me.
So how much are you ahead of them???
Thanks Callie,
It's okay if any one answers this question for me. Thanks
Dub, just to clarify, I am NOT mad at you for your post on Saturday. You seem to be afraid that my post was a little serious, and I apologize for that. You know I would never throw your stuff away (donate it maybe). If you're really nice to me when you get home, I might think about letting you use my lawnmower, but don't even think about asking to use the weedeater! Does your post office has really crappy hours? It seems that ours doesn't open before 8:30 a.m. and it closes at 4:30 p.m., which doesn't leave much time for the working folks. I think they should have 24 hour walk-in lobbies. Just think how cranky those tellers would be!
