01 April 2007. This is one of my favorite days, yet, I don't really play too many tricks on people during this day, maybe because I spend every other day during the year messing with folks I just take today off. My last promotion to SFC was on this day, two years ago. I think it was fitting and would love to see all my other promotions occur on the same day. Come to think of it, if I get any more promotions, there would only be two anyway. Today was absolutely gorgeous, clear, clear blue skies, a light breeze and warm weather. The only thing I'm missing is almost 7,000 miles away.
SUNDAY SHOUT-OUTS
Sunni Kay at Rantings, Ramblings and other Miscellaneous Stuff pulled a fast one on me. I had been planning all week on mentioning her today on my Sunday Shout Out and then I find out from her that she mentioned me on Saturday as her Saturday Super Site. I've been bested again. Luckily, I'm a gracious person. Check out her opinion on political do-overs here. Just click on the name above to get her entire site. I really loved the video about banning Di hydrogen Monoxide. I couldn't believe it and googled it. What an amazing discovery. If you are truly worried about the dangers of Di hydrogen Monoxide then you should research it too.
My second shout out isn't a blog, but a company. I told you we had a visitor during the last couple of days. Vaden Willis from Build A Bear came over to Camp Phoenix but just before he arrived he had shipped over 120 bears to be given to the soldiers. I'm quite familiar with the company as Mrs. Dub and Miss Dub own several bears and other creatures from their store. Mrs. Dub has a brown bear in the desert camo's with one of my dog tags around his neck. This is in fact where Sgt Dub began. That's the Bear's name. In his paw, there's a push button recording of a message I left for Mrs. Dub when I shipped out the first time to Afghanistan. Miss Dub has also had a birthday party there before. Anyway, Vaden is also a friend of Lt. M and come to find out we had several people in common that could connect us. Here are some of the pictures taken while the bears were being passed out. I want you to see the joy on the faces of soldiers, male and female alike at this little piece of home brought to us. Of course, Vaden is the one in the civilian clothes and the Boomer Sooner hat.

Be safe and have a great day.

Build A Bear is an awesome company, and I absolutely adore my "SgtDub" bear. I must admit that during your first deployment, he sat out on my dresser and I pushed his paw every night, just to hear your voice. This time, he was sitting on the top shelf of the closet, so I just went and pulled him out. I've taken his picture and plan to do a blog on my site about him. I would recommend a bear to everyone with children. The kids love to snuggle the bears, and to be able to hear the voice of someone special. Is it just me, or did Vaden resemble "Larry the Cable Guy"? I thought it was you for a minute! Build-A-Bear needs to design some "Larry The Cable Guy" clothing, and I would redress SgtDub in his civilian clothing!

Thank you Sgt Dub. I am honored. I had no idea, and this was a very pleasant surprise when I logged in this morning!

On another note, we have a build a bear in my neck of the woods too. They are wonderful.

Stay safe!

I'll have to see if I can order one online in order to support them for supporting you guys! That's cool!!!
**Your comment about Palm Sunday...Are you even allowed to have any kind of church services over there? Can you have bibles? It seems that I remember (I use that word loosely since I have CRS syndrome!) since Allah reigns supreme, they frown on any other religious "propaganda."

Fabulous surprise! How cool that a little thing like a soft teddy bear can bring such joy to people so far from home. Awesome company.

Off topic, but saw your question at Claire's. Just add it as a page element to your footer (or sidebar will probably work too). Use the "HTML/Java Script" option and then just copy and paste.

Does that make sense? Hope it helps!

Great post, glad they enjoyed the bears. We made our daughter a bear before she was born, but she hated it. It scared her to have our voices.

Hey dub, stick Sunni's little logo on your page... it's real lonely being the only one ;)

On a serious note; love the blog, glad Sunni pointed it out to me. Stay safe, and if we ever meet in real life I'm gonna shake your hand and buy you a beer :)
