26 April 2007, Am I running late today? Well, I guess so, but I'm safe and sound, and full. One of the security companies here in Kabul are pulling out and invited us over for a cookout. We've had a very good relationship with them. They started off with grilled sausage links, yep, had some of those. Then the roasted potatoes were done, had a plate. Then the steaks were done, had one of those, well done, and the meat was falling apart. Then shouting the bull for a couple of hours and the rest of the steaks were done, so I had another one. And over the course of the evening I had two cokes and four glasses of pineapple juice. I'm very full. This was my first steak (and second) since September 21 of last year when I left Oklahoma (again) after 15 short days of leave to see my wonderful family. Did I mention the meat was falling off the bone?
Today was a good day and I stayed pretty busy. I spent 3 hours in briefings today before we left for the other compound. I haven't been around to my usual blog route in a couple of days but I hope to fix that soon. I certainly miss reading and I hate getting behind in it. It's already 10:30 p.m. so I better stop for now. Be safe and have a great day.

Sounds like you're one stuffed little piggy! I'll bet you don't sleep very well tonight, because you're going to be going to potty. The reason the meat was falling off the bone was because the bone had disentegrated from the heat. So how did the steak compare to Cattlemen's?

Yes, you mentioned that me meat was falling off the bone. TWICE! Now I'm hungry...

Sounds like you had a great time and that's a good thing. Don't worry about all of us...keep yourself focused on what you need to do. Stay safe and God bless.

I hope you are making plans to visit Cattleman's again upon your return.

Your Aunt will share her order of lamb fries with you. Or.......I will pay for all you can eat! Yummy!

Glad to hear you´ve had a great day. Well, after having a BBQ at Luis 1st birthday party and eating a ton of meat I felt full, too. Reading about your wonderful BBQ I feel like I ate the steaks you´ve had in addition. I. feel. sick. *LOL*

Be safe and have a good night!

Think you got enough to eat, D? Yowsah! That was one big ol' feast - well deserved on your part, I might add.

Sure beats MREs, doesn't it?

That's what I was thinkin,' a steak's not a steak unless it can recover!!! My hubman can't look at my plate when we eat steak...
Glad you enjoyed it (them). Wish we could treat you to a huge ol' well-done piece of meat with all the trimmings upon your arrival home in 59 days 13 hrs 28 mins!
