09 February 2007, Happy Dance Friday.
Yes, once again we have reached Friday safely. I stopped by the French Bazaar today and did some shopping. I want to take this time to tell you about a young boy named TJ. TJ was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia Pro-B in September 2006. TJ's journey will been a long one. As most of you know, people with cancer go through chemotherapy and as a result of this, loose their hair. This usually follows with patients wearing hats. TJ has a desire to break the Guinness World Record for having the largest collection of hats. The total number? 83,000. TJ's plan doesn't stop there though. Once he has taken the record, it is his desire to begin distributing those hats to others who have succumbed to the same disease. There is no way I can even attempt to explain what he and his family are going through or how to tell their story. What I can do, and what I'm asking you is if you have any hats at home that you would like to donate to TJ for this wonderful cause. As I said, I went to the bazaar today and bought several pakol hats.

Pakol hats are also called the Masood hat (by us Westerners), as it references the former leader of the Northern Alliance that stood against the Taliban here in Afghanistan. I also have a boonie cap that I am getting worked up to send to TJ. I have a collection of ball caps at home that I have told Mrs. Dub to box up and send to TJ too. Of course, only the clean ones. Please remember that these children are both male and female and if you have some more stylish hats for the girls, these too would be very nice.

If you would like to donate a hat to his cause please send it to:
TJ's Journey
P.O. BOX 888781
Grand Rapids, MI 49588-8781

Our Navy LT R wouldn't let us send his other hat. Something about still needing to block the alien transmissions.
Be safe and have a great day.

HDF.....TO YOU TOO!

What a great cause!! I'm going to look into it and pass this around my office.....
And oh...I once did a blog about aluminum hats...I have to find it.
There was a great funny link on how to make them RIGHT in order to keep the aliens away...When I find it I'll let you know.

I'm sorry to report that all of your hats are covered in dust. They've been sitting on that shelf in your office, and I can't reach it, so it doesn't get dusted. I will endeavor to purchase some new ones and by the way, did I mention that Valentine's Day is Feb. 14th? You still have time . . . and no, I don't want a Pakol hat!

What a great cause! Such a neat idea - I bet there will be some very happy kids to get those unique hats from you!

I'm sure that I must have a hat or two lying around here somewhere that I can send to help out the cause. I think I'll pass this around to the folks at work, too, and see if they'd like to help out!

Oh, and also, about women being cars and men being parking spaces - yep, I concur completely! And to add to that analogy, most men seem to go for the sleek, sporty models and not the older classics!

I'm going to try to coerce my husband into donating some of his boxes of ball caps. They're fun to collect - sometimes I feel as though we have 83,000 in the house - but they take up a lot of room! TJ's cause seems to be the perfect way to help him - and me :)

My prayers go to TJ. I, too. have some hats laying around that I can send. I will, also, link to your post so the word can spread.

And stay safe Sgt.

Hi! I surfed over from Sarge Charlie's blog and hope that I can be of some help in some way. I run a military support organization called eMail Our Military (see: eMailOurMilitary.com) that sends mail and email to the troops to boost morale. We'd certainly love to support you and your troops and help with any projects that we can. I'd love to hear your thoughts on our org. and if you think you and your troops would like to hear from our volunteers.

Thank you for your service to our country. You are truly appreciated.
