21 February 2007, It's Wednesday, so for everyone the week is almost over. We've had a bit of interesting weather over the last couple of days. We went from Sunday being a high of 68 F/19C to Monday morning seeing it snow again. It has been raining since Monday night and turning back into snow yesterday afternoon and night. Now, as I've said, Afghanistan needs this type of precipitation, but the locals are complaining. You see, they still build most of the houses out of mud to include the roofs, sooo....rain and snow on hard pack dried mud homes equal soft mud crashing into the living room. This afternoon it started turning nice again.
I have made it to cardio workouts twice this week so far, this is good. I weighed this morning unofficially at 237 with shoes on so at least I haven't gained any weight during my absence at the gym.
The Italians were here at Camp Phoenix today for a ceremony were we recognized them for their part in the VBIED incident in January here. The Italians have an EOD team that responded that day. We had certificates for them and the paperwork has been submitted for awards. Apparently they did the same for 11 of us to include me. I'm getting an Italian award. This is pretty cool. Although I interact with many nations on a professional level, I usually don't get to partake in the more social aspects of it.
Everything else is going pretty good. I was able to leave work earlier tonight and hope to get caught on reading every one's blogs. Be safe and have a great day.

Seems like the weather is wonky all over the globe. We had rain and 45 degrees on Monday; today it's sunny at 70!

An Italian award? OutSTANDing, Sarge!

A VBIED is a Vehicle Born IED.

There is something to be said about the comraderie of battle brothers. It transcends even national bounderies.

Have a great day and watch for falling roofs.

That's great about your award!!!

We've recovered from the only big snowfall we've gotten this year and the weather will be in the upper 40's all week.

Stay safe.

Is there any chance the award is a free trip to Italy? You know, that's someplace you've promised to take me, and I plan to collect on that one! I had a pretty exciting day yesterday -- getting to pose next to the Oklahoma Centennial Nascar #23 and get the driver's autograph, and meeting B.J. Thomas (Rain Drops Keep Falling on my Head). BUT the highlight of my day came when I opened the mail box and found a Valentine's Day card from you!!! And the best part was the lovely poem you wrote especially for me - I love you so much and I'm smiling just thinking about you!!! Hurry Home I Miss You!
