12 February 2007, Here I am.
The good news was that my absence occurred over the weekend and most of you do have lives outside this little box. The bad news was that my computer would have worked yesterday if I have checked a little farther. As I have mentioned before, the internet here is month to month and the guy who operates it has it set up where we have to log in to start surfing the net. Well, yesterday when I came back to my room the log in page would not come up. At this I just stopped and grumbled under my breath. What I found out from my guys today was that the log in page is the only one having problems and that you can just go to where you want on the web, no problems.
I've notice a condition growing on me. Living in the connex housing (lego-land) we have to be quiet all the time. Listening to the television or laptop I have to have my headphones on so as to not bother any of my neighbors. I really don't mind this that much, but I have noticed that I will put my headphones on automatically and then not bother to put on anything to listen to. I then realize this and finally figure it out that I need to put something on to listen to.
Mrs. Dub's site tells us that this week is the 29th Annual National Salute to Hospitalized Veterans Week and will be held February 11-17, 2007 at all VA Medical Centers Across the Nation. The purpose of the National Salute to Hospitalized Veterans Program is to: pay tribute and express appreciation to hospitalized veterans; increase community awareness of the role of the VA medical center;
encourage citizens to visit hospitalized veterans and to become involved as volunteers. More than 98,000 veterans of the U.S. armed services who are cared for every day in Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) medical centers, outpatient clinics, domiciliaries, and nursing homes. There is a link at the bottom of the website to help you find a VA Medical Center in your area. Visit http://www1.va.gov/volunteer/nshv.cfm to learn more.
I almost forgot to mention it, but Happy Funday. Be safe and have a great day.

happy to hear from you my friend, can't help but be uneasy when you go silent. The VA hospitals are an important part of my life and many other old soldiers. We have a very good hospital here in West Palm Beach and since i visit it often, I keep in touch with the cost of freedom. I especially like the WWII vets I see there, there pride has never wavered, many of them ware their medals when they go for health care.

Whew! I am so glad you are back in communication with us. Scary times your in over there. Take care friend and have a good week. I will have to do some investigating and find out what hospitals are around here. As far as I know the closest is Portland. So we will see.

As Sarge Charlie says, it's a bit tense out here when you're not in communication for a bit. We all worry about you.

Glad to see you out and about again. Stay safe, and have a great day!

I feel compelled to share SgtDub's comments this morning when I was reminding (a/k/a nagging) him to send me a Valentine's Day card. He actually stated to me that he is "in a war zone", thus insinuating that he didn't have the time. My response was that if he had time to blog, then he had time to send me a card. What do you think? Should he send me a card or not? I sent him one! So Dub, is this technique working? Do you feel bad yet?

I'm trying to remember if my Dad sent my Mom a Valentine's Day card when he was in Vietnam but that was so long ago, I can't really remember. Of course, the big difference is that there was no World Wide Web when my Dad was holed up in a shelter in Danang while the VietCong shelled the hell out of the runway so Dad couldn't send flowers or anything else via the Internet. Consequently, I guess I can't give you an "out" on that one, Sgt, so I guess you'd best send the Mrs. a little something-something or else she might be seeing the wrong kind of red on Wednesday!

It was good to hear that you are safe and sound - I echo the sentiments of those who get a bit nervous when you go silent.

Stay safe!

Hey there...I echo those sentiments! Thanks for the birthday wishes for my mom...and that song by Rascal Flats? That might be a good Valentine's Day gift? I have never been a fan of C&W but my husband is so I've been paying more attention since I HATE rap (sorry rap lovers). I bought him a CD by Brad Paisley and found several songs I liked - especially that duet with Dolly. THe Broken Road is really pretty. Can you go onto Amazon.com? You can listen to it there. In fact you can ship direct, too...hint, hint...
Praying for ya!
~~~Blessings~~~
Glad to hear that everything is well (except for your Internet problem).
I agree with everyone, send Mrs. Dub a card...with lots of virtual hugs and kisses.
Hey sorry about your computer.
this might help I have some mushroom headphones, they are like earplugs but headphones that reduce sound loss, so you can hear your music clearly with the interuption of outside noise but it also means people around you can't hear what your listening to...
